Central Vietnam floods  Scorpion-lite Man pack provides critical emergency restoration.

Soldiers Restore Communications Amid Central Vietnam Floods with the Scorpion-lite Manpack System

Heavy rains triggered landslides that engulfed the roads leading to mountainous communes of Da Nang City such as Trà Leng, Trà My, and Trà Giáp. Beginning on the morning of October 28, a convoy of 19 specialised vehicles, including communication trucks from the 575th Brigade, made their way up the mountains in single file.

Amid the heavy rains and flooding, officers and soldiers of the 575th Information Brigade braved landslides to restore communications, re-establishing the vital information lifeline needed for command and rescue operations using the Holkirk Scorpion-lite satcom terminal.

The relentless heavy rainfall severely impacted the mountainous regions, severing access routes, and crippling both the power grid and communication systems.

As highland communities faced increasingly dire conditions, officers and soldiers of the 575th Information braved the dangers, waded through floodwaters, and worked tirelessly to restore the vital “artery” of communication essential for command and rescue operations.

The only road to Tra My – Tra Leng was cut off, undeterred by the treacherous terrain, the information troops pressed forward, trekking through forests and hauling equipment into isolated areas to reestablish communication signals, this was only possible with the highly portable Scorpion-lite terminal.

The successful restoration of communications in Tra My – Tra Leng underscores not only the dedication of the 575th Information Brigade but also the critical role of advanced technology in disaster response. The deployment of the Scorpion-lite, a compact, mobile satellite communication system, proved instrumental in re-establishing real-time connectivity in isolated, high-risk zones.

Designed for rapid deployment and rugged terrain, the Scorpion-lite offers lightweight portability, high-bandwidth satellite links, and secure, encrypted channels, enabling uninterrupted command and control even in the harshest conditions. Its plug-and-play setup and low power consumption make it ideal for field operations where infrastructure is compromised.
