Bridging Theory and Field-Ready Practice
The training was designed to equip NATO personnel with a full working knowledge of the TP120 system, covering both theoretical foundations and hands-on field operations. Participants engaged in:
- System architecture and signal flow: Understanding the complete uplink and downlink chain, from antenna to modem.
- Multi-orbit satellite pointing: Practicing acquisition techniques across GEO, MEO, and LEO constellations.
- Duplex modem configuration: Establishing robust two-way communication links using advanced modem setups.
- TP120 antenna deployment: Assembling, aligning, and optimizing the terminal for dual-band operation in real-world conditions.
Operational Readiness and Coalition Integration
By the end of the course, attendees demonstrated proficiency in setting up and operating the TP120 terminal independently, a critical capability for rapid deployment in coalition environments. The training supports NATO’s broader goals of modular interoperability, resilient communications, and rapid response across theaters.
